Statement of Faith

We believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord and Savior who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Later to be crucified and died for our sins and on the third day, He rode from the dead, ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

The Holy Trinity.
We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy. He always has our best interests at heart. He is good and powerful beyond explanation.

Salvation by Faith.
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is not by good deeds, rituals, church attendance, or solely by keeping of the commandments.

God's Word.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and holy Word of God.

Holy Spirit.
He is the spirit of the Father and the spirit of Christ. He gives gifts to men. Those gifts are well documented in the bible. We see no evidence that he stopped giving gifts at any point in history. Holy Spirit shows us things to come. He leads us into all truth. He is our comforter. He convicts us of sin. He leads us in the day-to-day will of God for our lives. He is to be followed even when we don't understand. In the long run, things always work out better when we obey him.

Money.
We believe that money is to be used for our personal welfare, for the care of our families, neighbors, communities & supporting the local church. It is also a strategic tool for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. We recognize the dangers associated with desiring money, and believe we need to intentionally and aggressively pursue contentment, regardless of the quantity of money we possess. We are accountable for what we have been given. The more abundance there is, the more that is required of us. God's value of money is not like man's... the widow's mite is precious.

A personal note from Benny & Carmen

My wife and I have been Christians for over three decades.

We were previously involved with a Mennonite church in Canada. We now attend a small charismatic church in Rancho Cucamonga called The Refuge. We are very comfortable in either environment, but our hunger and thirst for revival has certainly become a priority for us personally in these recent years. In any case, when visiting churches, we are mature enough to not offend people’s sensibilities when it comes to doctrine.

Our primary attention is on the motives and intent of the heart, and being obedient to God’s leading, as obscure as that sometimes seems. We value God’s word, not in a theoretical sense, but more so as it leads us to Him, and into alignment with His purpose and authority in and over our daily lives. We believe we all must take responsibility for our own walk with the Lord and this can look different for us as individuals and congregations. We have learned to respect this individuality, without getting too hung up on trying to conform everyone into compliance with our way of thinking. It is more about love than doctrine, and caring for people rather than convincing them to believe like us.

We don’t talk much about this stuff, I only mention it here in order to assure you that we understand that some people are terrified of those who don’t believe like them. And others feel compelled to convert every other Christian. That is not us!

We are all babies who are somehow expected to be fathers and mothers, willing to lay down our lives for one another and especially for the Lord. My wife and I try to be intentional about becoming those mom’s and dad’s in the Church. Entrepreneurialism and making money is quite incidental in all of this, and really quite low on our list of priorities. If we can live our lives, entirely sold out for the Lord, and cause others to do the same, this is worth more than all the rest.
